A 'VERY GOOD' School - ETI 2014

Welcome to

      Newtownards Nursery School

I am really pleased to be able to welcome you to our website.  I hope that you find it useful and feel that you can access a great deal of information about us.  Visit us often to find out about all the activities and events during the school year.

When you visit Newtownards Nursery, we hope that you will see that we aim to provide the children with an environment that is caring, stimulating and challenging for them.  The staff and governors believe that each child who attends our school is a special person who has skills to be developed, curiosity to be encouraged, difficulties to be overcome and goals to be achieved.  All that takes place in our Nursery in terms of learning and teaching, building relationships and professional development stems from the overriding factor - the 'image of the child'.

At Newtownards Nursery we are committed to ensure the highest standards of learning and teaching for all our children.  As a 'Very Good School' in the last ETI Inspection, May 2014, we provide a rich, stimulating and inspiring learning environment.  We believe that, rather than seeing the child as an empty vessel waiting to be filled with knowledge, there is a child with unlimited potential who is eager to interact and contribute to the world.  We believe that observing, reflecting, assessing and documenting children's learning, successes and achievements are crucial  elements of the Northern Ireland Pre-School Curriculum.

This process of documentation enables staff to consider individual children's progress to plan accordingly for future learning opportunities in order to meet the needs and stage of development for all children.

A child has a fundamental right to 'realise and expand their potentail' driven by curiosity and imagination, who delights in responsibility for his/her own learning, a child who is listens and is listened to, needs to love and be loved, a chil who is valued in a warm, happy, friendly atmosphere.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for.  Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

Thank you for visiting!
